Minnesota Corn Growers President encourages ethanol supporters to speak up

The President of the Minnesota Corn Growers Association is encouraging those who support renewable fuels to reach out to the Environmental Protection Agency.  Bruce Peterson says there is still time to convince the EPA to leave the Renewable Fuels Standard alone.

“Send (the EPA) a letter and say how it positively impacted them.  One way you can do that is by going to our website, mncorn.org.  There’s a tab called Don’t Mess with the RFS.”

From there he says you can submit your comments, or print off a form and mail it to EPA.  Peterson tells Brownfield he is afraid the agency won’t change their mind.

“What’s the result going to be?  That’s for anybody to speculate.  I’m afraid that they’re probably going to side more with oil companies, which makes it all the more critical that we send in as many comments as we can.  But we’ll know in November if we did any good or not, but we’re certainly going to try.”

The public comment period for the RFS ends July 27th.  EPA has set November 30th as the date to finalize the Renewable Volume Obligations for 2014, 2015 and 2016.
