Case IH sprayer

Another week of working between the rain showers in Wisconsin last week.  First crop hay is now 93 percent harvested up 8 points from a week ago and 6 points ahead of the five-year average.  The first crop was very thick and lodged in some areas.  20 percent of the second crop has been made as of Sunday up 15 points from a week ago and 4 points ahead of the five-year average.

Spraying has been a real challenge.  Topsoil moisture is 77 percent adequate and 19 percent surplus, down 2 points from a week ago.  The Southwest district is 31 percent surplus.

The corn crop is rated 84 percent good to excellent condition but a number of reports the corn is very uneven with a lot of yellow areas.  The early-planted corn will make knee-high by the 4th of July.  The Badger State soybeans are rated 83 percent good to excellent condition with some blooming.

Oats are 80 percent headed with 10 percent turning color while winter wheat is 95 percent headed with 40 percent turning color.  All ahead of the five-year average.  Oats are rated 84 percent good to excellent condition, winter wheat is 78 percent good to excellent shape.
