Call for another RFS hearing in Wisconsin

ACE Ethanol edit

The Wisconsin Corn Growers Association and Wisconsin BioFuels Association want the Environmental Protection Agency to hold another hearing on the Renewable Fuels Standard…in Wisconsin.

EPA planned only one hearing which was held in Kansas City last Thursday.  Wisconsin BioFuels president Erik Huschitt says EPA needs to hear from more people who contribute to and work in the biofuels industry.

Wisconsin Corn Growers president Casey Kelleher says Wisconsin farmers, retailers and consumers are well-positioned to provide important feedback on how the proposed standards will impact agriculture and the biofuels industry.

The two are urging farmers, ethanol advocates, community leaders and consumers to “tell the EPA not to mess with the RFS.”

Wisconsin has nine ethanol plants, producing more than 500 million gallons of ethanol.  Wisconsin’s ethanol industry has a $4.2 billion economic impact, supporting nearly 20,000 jobs with $982 million in wages annually.
