One of the nation’s largest egg producers is planning a $44 million expansion of its organic and cage free facilities.  Herbruck’s Poultry Ranch in Mid-Michigan is the nation’s 12th largest egg producer, supplying Meijer, Kroger, and all McDonald’s east of the Mississippi with 1.5 billion eggs annually.

The investment will add new egg-laying and pullet growing capacity to meet increased organic demand.  The expansion also includes waste water upgrades to the village of Lake Odessa, which once completed will be donated back to the community.  In a news release from the Michigan Economic Development Corporation, the agency said the expansion comes after a $33 million investment in 2014 to expand production and processing facilities.
