Noem pleased with House TPA passage

Programs ICONA supporter of the Trade Promotion Authority bill in the U.S. House says she is proud to see it pass.  South Dakota Congresswoman Kristi Noem says it’s an important tool for U.S. trade negotiators to have in their back pocket. Noem tells reporters, “We have been without trade promotion authority since 2007 and in that time we’ve seen over 100 trade agreements that have been made around the world without America being involved. That means that other countries are getting better access to bigger markets. That means that other countries are setting rules for trade and the rules of a global economy and we’re not!”

She says TPA is a tool that will ensure producers and consumers can operate on a level playing field with the world.

The bill narrowly passed the House Thursday without Trade Adjustment Assistance, TAA, which will have to be voted on separately.
