Scattered rainfall didn’t slow planting progress too much across much of Indiana this past week.  According to the latest weekly Crop and Weather report, 95 percent of the state’s corn crop is planted with 81 percent emerged.  Seventy-six percent of the crop is rated good to excellent.

Eighty percent of the state’s soybean crop is planted with 51 percent emerged with 73 percent of the crop rated good to excellent.

In other crops around the state, 96 percent of wheat is jointing and 79 percent headed with 67 percent rated good to excellent. While last week’s moisture may not have slowed planting, but it has delayed hay producers who continue to wait for a dry window to begin cutting.

Ninety-two percent of the top soil and 94 percent of the subsoil are called adequate to surplus.
