Planting making progress in Indiana

Planting 2015 (2)_webAnother 14 percent of the Indiana corn crop was planted last week, bringing corn planting to 88 percent complete, seven points ahead of the 5-year average. 63 percent of the crop has emerged and as of Sunday, 85% of the Indiana corn crop was in fair-to-good condition.

By region, corn planting was 89% complete in the North, 86% complete in Central Indiana and 92% complete in the South.

Soybean planting is 59% complete, up 23 points from the week before and five points ahead of the 5-year average. 27 percent of the Indiana soybean crop has emerged.

By region, soybean planting was 59% complete in the North, 57% complete in Central and 63% complete in the South.

93 percent of the wheat crop is jointing, 58 percent is headed, 12 points behind the average pace.

82 percent of the Indiana wheat crop is rated fair-to-good.

First cutting of alfalfa is 32 percent complete.
