Soybean inspections down on week, up on year

The USDA reports soybean export inspections for the week ending May 21st were above what’s needed to meet USDA projections for the 2014/15 marketing year.

Wheat came out at 418,376 tons, up 91,343 from the week ending May 14th, but down 90,701 from the week ending May 22nd, 2014. Nearing the end of the 2014/15 marketing year, wheat inspections are 22,194,653 tons, compared to 30,734,890 late in 2013/14.

Corn was reported at 1,006,720 tons, 102,278 lower than the previous week and 162,244 less than this time last year. So far this marketing year, corn inspections are 30,920,512 tons, compared to 32,696,890 a year ago.

Soybeans were pegged at 291,192 tons, 49,905 below the week before, but 200,649 more than last year. At this point in the marketing year, soybean inspections are 46,870,988 tons, compared to 41,960,880 a year ago.

Sorghum inspections totaled 111,405 tons. That’s a decrease of 28,397 tons on the week, but an increase of 52,003 on the year. 2014/15 sorghum inspections are 7,203,329 tons, compared to 3,304,481 in 2013/14.
