On Sunday, twelve dairy princesses from across Minnesota were named finalists to become the next Princess Kay of the Milky Way.

Sherry Newell of the Midwest Dairy Association says Princess Kay is a great testament to the way dairy farmers display their pride in where they come from.

“The farm families that have young women that choose to be dairy princesses are just so proud to have them involved.  We like to know that all the people across Minnesota take that pride really seriously.”

The finalists are Kallie Baker of Wabasha County, Kylee Fernholz of Douglas County, Michelle Green of Roseau (rose-oh) County, Samantha Keller and Maggie Mills, both of Goodhue County, Kyla Mauk of Wright County, Jennifer Oelfke of Sibley County, Ellen Sheehan of Olmstead County, McKenzie Smith of Mower County, Rachel Stender of McLeod County, Morgan Uphoff of Stearns County and Carley Vinkemeier of Carver County.

The Princess Kay of the Milky Way winner will be announced August 26th,  the night before opening day of the Minnesota State Fair.
