Clusters of showers & t-storms expand across the Heartland

Across the Corn Belt, warm, mostly dry weather prevails between storms. However, showers linger across the Ohio Valley and the lower Great Lakes region in conjunction with a departing system, while rain is returning to parts of Nebraska in advance of an approaching storm.

On the Plains, flooding and heavy rain showers continue to plague parts of central and eastern Oklahoma, as well as southern and eastern Texas. Meanwhile, showers and thunderstorms are also spreading northward from the central Plains, benefiting pastures and summer crops but mostly arriving too late to aid winter wheat.

In the South, warm, mostly dry weather prevails, despite widespread cloudiness. Lowland flooding is occurring in a few areas west of the Mississippi River, mainly from eastern Texas to Arkansas.

In the West, rain and snow showers cover nearly all areas, except the Pacific Northwest. In addition, very cool weather prevails. In drought-affected agricultural regions, the cool, damp weather is boosting topsoil moisture, reducing irrigation demands, and benefiting rangeland, pastures, winter grains, and spring-sown crops.
