No new H5N2 cases in Wisconsin on Wednesday

No new cases of avian influenza in Wisconsin on Wednesday.  The Department of Ag, Trade and Consumer Protection says depopulation is now underway at the Barron County turkey farm and Jefferson County chicken farm confirmed on Monday.

DATCP also notes the Wisconsin National Guard personnel has been scaled-down from 14 to just 3 or 4 assisting the Department.  Governor Scott Walker declared a state of emergency a few weeks ago at the request of State Veterinarian Paul McGraw.  The declaration put the Wisconsin National Guard at DATCP’s disposal to assist in clean-up at infected sites and other duties.  McGraw had made the request saying USDA personnel was limited because they were needed in other states with bigger problems.
