Indiana amps up agri-business economic development

Introducing Ted McKinney as the new Director of ISDA.

Indiana is revving up its agri-business economic development opportunities.  Earlier today, Lt. Governor Sue Ellspermann and Indiana Secretary of Commerce Victor Smith announced Indiana State Department of Agriculture director Ted McKinney would also assume additional responsibilities for agri-business economic development within the state’s Department of Economic Development Corporation.  His primary role will remain director of ISDA, but will now also serve as the Director of Agri-Business Development for IEDC.

Lt. Governor Ellspermann noted that the agriculture industry currently adds $25 billion to Indiana’s economy and over the last two years, the state has experienced continued growth in the agriculture sector.

Ellspermann says with programs like AgriNovus Indiana – the initiative to support food and agriculture innovation – and the state’s new dairy strategy they plan to leverage McKinney’s expertise in the agriculture to spearhead Indiana’s efforts to grow the state’s agri-business.
