Soybean, sorghum inspections up on year

The USDA reports corn and soybean export inspections for the week ending April 30th were above what’s needed weekly to meet USDA projections for the 2014/15 marketing year.

Wheat came out at 325,930 tons, down 227,298 from the week ending April 23rd and 239,784 lower than the week ending May 1st, 2014. Nearing the end of the 2014/15 marketing year, wheat inspections are 21,070,272 tons, compared to 29,004,108 late in 2013/14.

Corn was reported at 1,051,078 tons, 310,047 less than the previous week and 199,943 under this time last year. So far this marketing year, corn inspections are 27,654,107 tons, compared to 29,243,735 a year ago.

Soybeans were pegged at 172,066 tons, 139,800 below the week before, but 71,658 above last year. At this point in the marketing year, soybean inspections are 45,974,824 tons, compared to 41,454,078 a year ago.

Sorghum inspections totaled 274,897 tons. That’s an increase of 114,163 tons on the week and 187,537 on the year. 2014/15 sorghum inspections are 6,776,482 tons, compared to 3,021,027 in 2013/14.
