Indiana First Lady Karen Pence honored Indiana agriculture and Feeding Indiana’s Hungry during her second annual “Indiana First Lady’s Charitable Foundation” Luncheon.

The foundation was launched to support and recognize communities and organizations that promote the well-being of Hoosier children and their families.

First Lady Pence says each year the foundation has a different theme and this year – it was “Hoosier Home Grown”. “It was fun to be able to take a moment and thank the farmers and the Indiana ag community for everything they do for Indiana,” she says.  “Indiana has an amazing agricultural history and to have them present and to honor them was really great.”

She tells Brownfield the recipient of this year’s donation was Feeding Indiana’s Hungry.  “They do a fabulous job of connecting all the dots,” she says.  “They get the pork producers and they get the restaurateurs, farmers, and food banks pantries and coordinate everyone to work together.”

First Lady Pence presented Feeding Indiana’s Hungry with a $65,000 check.  FIsH serves 11 member food banks that serve all 92 counties across the state.
