Minnesota small grains planting ahead of normal

Planting of small grains remains well ahead of normal in Minnesota. According to USDA’s National Ag Statistics Service, 64 percent of the state’s sugar beets have been planted, 12 percent ahead of the five year average.

Spring wheat planting, as of April 19th, is 64 percent complete, compared to 24 percent from 2010 to 2014.

Planting of oats 53 percent done, 22 percent ahead of normal.

And barley planting is 25 percent ahead at 44 percent complete.
