Tractor sales continue to slide
U.S. tractor sales continue to lag behind a year ago. The Association of Equipment Manufacturers (AEM) says 15,837 farm tractors were sold in March, down 9 percent from March of 2014.
Two-wheel-drive sales were more than 8 percent lower at 15,461 including a 23 percent drop in sales of two-wheel-drives over 100 horsepower.
Four-wheel-drive tractor sales totaled 376 in March, nearly 30 percent below a year ago.
For the first three months of the year, total tractor sales are nearly 5 percent lower with two-wheel-drive sales off 3 percent and four-wheel-drive sales down 44 percent.
Self-propelled combine sales were down nearly 57 percent in March and down 45 percent year-to-date.

North of the border: Canadian tractor sales were up more than 15 percent in March at 1,796 units. However, year-to-date sales are nearly 5 percent below the first three months of 2014.
