NFU’s Goule says RFS held up at White House

National Farmers Union members are still waiting for federal policy that advances renewable fuels.  The NFU is looking further up the government chain of command for a determination of what the Renewable Fuel Standard will be.

Environmental Protection Agency Administrator Gina McCarthy deflected questions Monday about when the Renewable Fuel Standard will be made public.

National Farmers Union Govt. Relations VP Chandler Goule at the NFU Annual Convention, Wichita, Kan., Mar. 16, 2015.“We have indicated [that an announcement will be made] this spring.  I can’t give you anything more definitive at this point,” McCarthy told reporters following her address to the National Farmers Union convention Monday.  “Hopefully we’ll be able to send some clearer signals soon.”

McCarthy is aware of the importance and advantages of the RFS, according to Chandler Goule, vice president of government relations at the National Farmers Union.  “She gets it, I do believe that,” he said.  Delays in announcing the RFS, said Goule, are over McCarthy’s head.

“I don’t think the EPA’s the problem,” said Goule.  “I think the problem is at the White House.”

Goule has yet to be successful in getting a White House meeting on the RFS, but he believes that’s where the announcement is being held up.
