Compass Minerals manager says crops will only grow to what is limiting growth

The 2015 Commodity Classic came at a time when many in agriculture were turning their focus towards planting.  According to Collin Gyles, Nu-Trax P-plus product manager for Compass Minerals,  “(we’re) heading into a relatively uncertain planting period with commodity prices bouncing all over the place.  Farmers need to pay attention to what they are doing on the crop nutrition front.”

Their website says Compass Minerals is a leading producer of minerals, including salt, magnesium chloride, sulfate of potash and other plant nutrition products.  To find out what nutrition your crops might need, Gyles recommends a soil test.  “It’s a valuable piece of information.  Crops will only grow to what is limiting its growth.”  He says their technology allows for farmers to get maximum efficiency out of their rate by coating every single granule of fertilizer to create a nice even blanket across the field.

Looking back at 2014, Gyles discussed some very challenging seeding conditions across the entirety of their company’s footprint; which includes Europe, the Southern Carribean and North America.  Last year Compass Minerals did a lot of development work on a product they are launching this year, called Nu-Trax P-plus.  Gyles tells Brownfield their research showed getting the crop off to a healthy start can pay pretty big dividends when it comes time to harvest.  Nu-Trax P-plus is designed to feed the crop early in its life and Gyles says, “a timely dose of phosphorus right when the crop needs it is very important.”  That is what Nu-Trax P-plus is designed to do.
