Kris Swartz new OFSWCD President

Wood County farmer Kris Swartz is the new President of the Ohio Federation of Soil and Water Conservation Districts (OFSWCD).

Swartz tells Brownfield he’s excited to lead the organization.

“We’re looking for a year of change, a year of progress,” said Swartz. “Up in our area of the world it’s all about the lake. We’re ready to move forward, I know Soil and Water Districts are going to be important and vital in the rules coming up, we’re excited, I’m excited.”

And with the water quality issues front and center in the state, Kris Swartz says Soil and Water Conservation Districts can be involved in a number of ways.

“We’re going to be involved in any kind of State initiatives, be it cover crops, or controlled drainage structures, nutrient management plans, we’re going to the boots on the ground,” the OFSWCD President said. “Whether it’s a State or Federal program, Soil and Water Districts are going to be it.”

Swartz talked with Brownfield during the OFSWCD Annual Meeting in Columbus.
