Does rinsing reduce sodium?

NEW HL ICONSome people have to reduce their salt and sodium intake for health reasons but buying “low sodium” beans can cost more.

Health experts from the Food for Thought blog say there are studies that show draining the liquid from the canned beans and rinsing them WILL help reduce the sodium content overall.  But, low –sodium canned beans – which have to contain less than 141 milligrams of sodium or less per serving – are likely to be lower in sodium than rinsed beans.
