A new twist to an old idea
Prairie strips are an emerging agricultural conservation practice that strategically integrates small sections of prairie into corn and soybean fields. Seth Watkins, who farms near Clarinda in southwest Iowa, was one of the first Iowa farmers to adopt this new conservation practice. Watkins took part in a panel discussion on water quality at the ISA Research Conference, where we had a chance to visit with him.
