USTR confident in COOL appeal
The U.S. Trade Representative’s office has defended the Country of Origin Labeling (COOL) rule in oral statements before the World Trade Organization on Monday and Tuesday.
A USTR spokesman says they are confident in the USDA regulation issued in May 2013.
The trade representative’s office is appealing the WTO ruling handed down last November that found the COOL rule was unfair to livestock imports from Canada and Mexico.
