Dow confident that Enlist Duo registration will stand

Dow AgroSciences says it’s confident in the Environmental Protection Agency’s review of the safety of Enlist Duo herbicide and in the product’s registration.  Dow issued a statement to that effect Tuesday referring to the motion filed by the Center for Food Safety to stay EPA’s final order granting registration of Enlist Duo.

The Center for Food Safety and other environmental groups maintain that the EPA failed to consult the Fish and Wildlife Service regarding endangered species in the states where Enlist was approved.  The groups say that’s a violation of the Endangered Species Act.

The EPA says on its website that its review of Enlist Duo resulted in their finding that the product is safe for people, the environment and for endangered species when it’s used according to label directions.

In its statement, Dow AgroSciences says it supports EPA’s registration decision and is confident that the court will deny both the motion to stay and, ultimately, the request to set aside the registration.

The agency registered Enlist Duo, a blend of glyphosate and 2,4-D, in a half-dozen Corn Belt states and is considering registration in ten more states.
