NCBA continues to monitor dietary guidelines process
An officer of the National Cattlemen’s Beef Association (NCBA) says his organization continues to monitor the federal government’s work on dietary guidelines.
NCBA is concerned that those guidelines may recommend less beef. Those concerns stem from a dietary guidelines advisory committee’s discussions about beef’s role in a healthy diet and the environmental sustainability of beef production.
Although most Americans don’t pay much attention to the guidelines, California cattleman Kevin Kester, vice-chair of NCBA’s policy division, says they do play an important role in government-run food programs.
We visited with Kester at the recent Cattle Industry Convention in San Antonio.
