Western Farm Show features exhibits, demos, tractor pull
Next month’s Western Farm Show in Kansas City features displays of farm equipment, agricultural technologies, livestock demonstrations and a tractor pull. Show manager Ken Dean says the 3-day indoor show at the American Royal Complex has more than 500 exhibitors ranging from agricultural equipment and farm structures to crop production products and agricultural services.
“There’s nothing like seeing the product and then being able to talk to the person that stands behind it, right there face to face,” Dean told Brownfield Ag News. “And not only that, but to be able to do that with competitive products all under one roof makes it a pretty good trip for a farmer or a rancher.”
Among seminars at the Western Farm Show, low-stress livestock handling demonstrations will be twice on Saturday, Feb. 21. The demonstrations are to be led by Ron Gill, a specialist with the Texas Extension Service, focusing on improving the well-being of cattle and their handlers.
The opening day of the show, Thursday, Feb. 20, is FFA Day and features the so-called Border War between Kansas and Missouri FFA chapters competing to collect the most canned goods for a food pantry.
“At the end of the day, what we hope is that the students not only are going out and gathering these items for a good cause, we want them to feel good about what they did and know that they helped others down the road,” said Dean.
The Western Farm Show is at the American Royal Complex in Kansas City February 20th through the 22nd.
