A mild pattern on the southern Plains

Across the Corn Belt, a band of mostly light snow is causing minor travel disruptions from the upper Mississippi Valley into the lower Great Lakes region. Meanwhile, mild, dry weather covers the southern Corn Belt.

On the Plains, a Winter Storm Warning is in effect for much of eastern New Mexico, southeastern Colorado, the Oklahoma panhandle, and the northern panhandle of Texas. Snow is just starting to spread across the central and southern High Plains. Mild, dry weather prevails across the remainder of the Plains, except for a few snow showers in the Dakotas.

In the South, mild, dry weather continues to promote off-season farm activities. Wednesday’s high temperatures could top 70° as far north as central Georgia and southern South Carolina.

In the West, rain and snow showers are developing from Arizona to the central and southern Rockies, courtesy of a developing storm system. The storm should be a boon to spring and summer water-supply prospects, especially in the southern Rockies. Dry weather prevails elsewhere in the West. California’s dry spell has stretched to a month, following December’s drought-easing precipitation.
