Soybean inspections down on week, still strong

USDA reports soybean and corn export inspections remain ahead of what’s needed weekly to meet USDA projections for the 2014/15 marketing year, while wheat continues to trail expectations.

For the week ending January 15, wheat came out at 310,307 tons, up 72,154 from the week ending January 8, but down 113,570 from the week ending January 16, 2014. At this point in the 2014/15 marketing year, wheat inspections are 14,406,072 tons, compared to 21,349,398 in 2013/14.

Corn was reported at 747,634 tons, 246,009 higher than the previous week, but 10,567 lower than this time last year. For the marketing year to date, corn inspections are 13,396,315 tons, compared to 13,312,550 a year ago.

Soybeans were pegged at 1,517,985 tons, 350,359 less than the week before and 22,902 under last year. So far this marketing year, soybean inspections are 34,188,934 tons, compared to 28,330,352 a year ago.

Sorghum inspections totaled 234,499 tons, an increase of 111,305 on the week and 190,706 on the year. 2014/15 sorghum inspections are 3,415,121 tons, compared to 1,144,619 in 2013/14.
