2012 livestock loss deadline approaching

January 30, 2015, is the deadline to apply for assistance if you suffered qualifying disaster related livestock or grazing losses between October 1, 2011 and December 31, 2014.

Producers in counties declared federal disaster areas in that time period are eligible, your local Farm Service Agency office has a list of the eligible counties and applications. Details are also available on the FSA website.

The Livestock Indemnity Program and the Livestock Forage Program were reauthorized by the 2014 Farm Bill to provide relief to ranchers impacted by drought, blizzards and other natural disasters.
