Iowa Soybean leaders assume national roles

soybeans-anita iowa 7-13Several Iowa Soybean Association farmer-leaders were elected and appointed to national positions at the recent soybean industry meeting in St. Louis.

One of them was ISA president Tom Oswald of Cleghorn, who was officially seated as a director on the United Soybean Board (USB). Oswald fills the seat held by Jim Stillman of Emmetsburg.  Stillman retired from the USB board after serving nine years as a director including USB chairman in 2013.

Other Iowans assuming roles with the national soybean organizations include:

  • Laura Foell of Schaller, who was re-elected to the USB executive committee
  • John Heisdorffer of Keota, who will serve on the executive committee of the American Soybean Association (ASA)
  • Wayne Fredericks of Osage, who was seated as an Iowa member on the ASA board
  • Ray Gaesser of Corning, immediate past president of ASA, as appointed chairman of the ASA board.
