Corn Split N new nitrogen tool

A free online decision tool has been unveiled for growers to manage application of in-field nitrogen. It’s called the Corn Split N and is designed for growers in Illinois, Iowa, Indiana, Missouri and Kansas. Seven more states will be added for 2015:  Minnesota, South and North Dakota, Michigan, Nebraska, Ohio and Wisconsin.

The free tool was designed by University of Missouri Extension economist Ray Massey and combines historical weather data and fieldwork conditions with economic considerations.  It determines the feasibility and profitability of post-planting nitrogen application. Farmers get customized results.
