Ed Welch is stepping down as president and CEO of Associated Milk Producers Incorporated (AMPI) for personal reasons. Welch has been CEO since 2008 and has been with the co-op for more than 30 years.

The AMPI Board of Directors will meet soon to determine their next step. Executive senior vice presidents Donn DeVelder and Sheryl Meshke will serve as interim CEOs.

With headquarters in New Ulm, Minnesota, AMPI is owned by 2,600 dairy farm families in Wisconsin, Minnesota, Iowa, Nebraska, South Dakota and North Dakota. The co-op has 10 manufacturing plants and markets about 5.8 billion pounds of milk annually.
