Borlaug calls for changes in communication

Julie BorlaugNew innovations and technologies are losing to the anti-science movement, says Julie Borlaug with the Borlaug Institute for International Agriculture.  She says it is time to make some changes.

“All the money that is going into advertising right now is not making a dent,” she told Brownfield.  “So we need to make our message more personal.  We need to be involved in social media.  Get away from more of the scientific speech and really talk to people on more of an emotional level.”

Borlaug sees opportunities with the next generation and its acceptance of technology.

Borlaug shared her thoughts with Brownfield Ag News following her presentation at the recent Bayer CropScience Corn Soy Future Forum in Frankfurt, Germany.
