Livestock mortality composting workshop

Livestock mortality composting

Dealing with animal mortality is just something livestock producers have to deal with at some point.

In Ohio there are four state-approved methods for disposing of dead livestock, incineration, burial, rendering and the most cost-effective method, composting.

To help livestock producers learn more about livestock mortality composting and become certified, Ohio State University Extension will hold a workshop tomorrow evening, that’s Wednesday, 6:30 p.m. at the Putnam County Extension office in Ottawa.

Information is available by contacting Dale Ricker, Extension swine program specialist, 419-523-6294.
