Missouri’s director of agriculture is also a farmer – and with technology – he is able to stay close to the farm.

Richard Fordyce tells Brownfield although he’s not involved in the day-to-day operations on his northwest Missouri farm, he can see what’s going on. “So, I was actually in my office yesterday, here in Jeff City, I was watching the guys – on my iPad – harvest corn.”

Fordyce says it’s amazing and fun to see, especially this year with such great yields, “I wish I’d have been there in person! But, being able to remote view was just about as good.”

Fordyce – who said he was determined to still be a full-time farmer when he became Ag director – tells us he was able to do some planting this past spring at his farm and it felt “real good.”
