Farmers across the Corn Belt are working hard to get their crops out of their fields. But, in many cases, like for Missouri farmer Jay Schutte, they are behind…

“Of course, this time of year the big concern is wanting to get done before winter hits. So, we’re racing against the snow. Snow’s a good ways off but completing harvest is a good ways off as well.”

Schutte was harvesting soybeans when Brownfield spoke with him last Friday. His soybeans are about 30% harvested and the beans Friday were carrying extra moisture…

“The docks on beans that are carrying moisture are pretty prohibitive. So, we’re going to try to avoid that. We’re thankful we are gonna keep on rolling and hopefully get done before winter.”

The best thing about this year – he tells Brownfield – is the excellent yields he’s getting on both corn AND soybeans. In past years, it’s been one or the other, but this year, he says has been “GREAT.” Schutte farms at Rush Hill, near Mexico in North Eastern Missouri.
