Big jumps in harvest progress

Dry weather much of last week allowed for significant harvest progress in Indiana.  According to the latest Crop and Weather report, 44 percent of Indiana’s corn has been harvested.  That’s a 13% bump from a week prior.  Crop conditions are still holding steady as 78 percent is rated good to excellent.  Soybean harvest also advanced as 50 percent is now harvested – 19 percent more than the previous week with 74 percent still rated good to excellent.

In other crops around the state, 67 percent of the winter wheat has been planted with 36 percent emerged and 70 percent rated good to excellent.  Ninety-four percent of tobacco has been harvested and 95 percent of alfalfa is on its fourth cutting.
