Rain continues to slow harvest

Both corn and soybean harvest were slowed and in some cases shut down last week by frequent rainfall, but milder weather allowed harvest activities to resume towards the end of the week.

According to the latest Indiana Crop and Weather report, just 25 percent of Indiana’s corn crop has been harvested and 26 percent of soybeans.  Crop conditions continue to hold steady as 77 percent of the corn and 74 percent of soybeans are still in good to excellent condition.

In other crops around the state 84 percent of tobacco has been harvested and 89 percent of alfalfa has had its fourth cutting.

Twenty-eight percent of winter wheat has been planted with 12 percent emerged.
