ADM buying Specialty Commodities

Archer Daniels Midland is buying a leading healthy ingredient processor and distributor.

ADM says its purchase of Specialty Commodities, Incorporated (SCI) for about $170 million is one of the ways it’s “improving returns and reducing the volatility of its earnings” by expanding their specialty ingredient portfolio.

SCI has a global network of suppliers sourcing natural and organic ingredients for customers in the “snack, ice cream, cereal, health food, bakery, pet food and bird food markets.”

When the purchase is complete, SCI will be a part of ADM’s new WILD Flavors and Specialty Ingredients’ business unit.

SCI is based in Fargo, North Dakota, with locations in California, Illinois, Minnesota and New Jersey.
