FSA’s Dolcini on ARC/PLC

DolciniA reminder from USDA Farm Service Agency Administrator Val Dolcini regarding the new Agriculture Risk Coverage (ARC) and Price Loss Coverage (PLC) programs established by the 2014 Farm Bill:

In August, farmers should have received notices in the mail with information on their base acres and planting history. These letters are an important part of preparing for ARC/PLC. Landowners should review these letters for accuracy. Visit our website at www.fsa.usda.gov  for helpful online calculators to explore your options.  And schedule an appointment with your local FSA office to update your yield history or reallocate base acres.

Soon, educational meetings, sponsored by FSA and your cooperative extension service, will be announced in a community near you, where we’ll answer your questions. You’ll have plenty of time to learn and prepare for your decision. Because starting November 17, 2014, until March 31, 2015, all producers on the farm will make a one-time, unanimous election of either ARC or PLC for the 2014 through 2018 crop years.

For more information about ARC/PLC, call your local FSA office or go online to www.fsa.usda.gov.
