South Dakota Ag Economic impact results

The impact of agriculture on South Dakota’s economy cannot be ignored in a new study released by the state Department of Agriculture.

It shows that total production agriculture and ag related industries accounted for more than 30 percent of South Dakota’s total output, based on 2012 data.

Also that year, agriculture accounted for one in every five jobs in South Dakota.

And, more than one-third of the state’s counties get at least half of their total output form ag and ag-related businesses.
