It’s gonna be a busy winter

From deciding whether the Price Loss Coverage program or the Agricultural Risk Coverage program is the right program for their farm, to making sure they have the right crop insurance coverage, it’s going to be a busy winter for farmers.

Jason Alexander, V.P. of Crop Insurance at Farm Credit Mid-America says to help farmers wade through everything, he suggests sitting down with someone who can help them with the changes taking place.

“From our standpoint when we can sit down with someone, when we can send a loan officer and crop insurance specialist to really sit down and spend a couple of hours and go through all of those options and how it affects their whole operation, that’s when we’re seeing farmers  a little ahead of the curve,” said Alexander. “They feel more comfortable making an educated decision when they can do that.”

Alexander says farmers need to look at their entire operation and weigh all of the options available.
