USDA raises 2013 soybean estimate

USDA has adjusted its 2013 U.S. soybean production figure. Last year’s crop is now pegged at 3.358 billion bushels, up more than 69 million from initial estimates, with an average yield of 44.0 bushels per acre, seven tenths of a bushel larger.

Planted area came out at 76.840 million acres, 307,000 higher, and harvested area totaled 76.253 million acres, an increase of 384,000.

USDA’s next projection for the 2014 crop is out October 10.

Illinois: 474 million bushels, with an average yield of 50 bushels per acre and harvested area of 9.48 million acres

Indiana: 267.285 million bushels, with an average yield of 51.5 bushels per acre and harvested area of 5.19 million acres

Iowa: 420.875 million bushels, with an average yield of 45.5 bushels per acre and harvested area of 9.25 million acres

Missouri: 201.960 million bushels, with an average yield of 36 bushels per acre and harvested area of 5.61 million acres

Nebraska: 255.195 million bushels, with an average yield of 53.5 bushels per acre and harvested area of 4.77 million acres

Ohio: 222.255 million bushels, with an average yield of 49.5 bushels per acre and harvested area of 4.49 million acres

South Dakota: 185.490 million bushels, with an average yield of 40.5 bushels per acre and harvested area of 4.58 million acres

Wisconsin: 60.45 million bushels, with an average yield of 39 bushels per acre and harvested area of 1.55 million bushels
