FarmDoc’s Farm Bill Tool Box explained

Farmers are encouraged to check out the online tools developed for them to help choose between the ARC and PLC programs in the Commodity Title of the Farm Bill. The University of Illinois has built one of those tools — “The Farm Bill Toolbox, part of the FarmDoc site here at the University of Illinois – we kind of think of this as our one-stop resource for all things you need for these decisions,” says Jonathan Coppess, with the Department of Agricultural and Consumer Economics at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. He tells Brownfield Ag News that farmers can go through decision-making steps and enter different farm scenarios which they can save to their computers.

“This does not save anywhere other than your own computer. There’s no centralized database for this. You can then upload previous farms and rerun them and it’ll have entered all this for you,” Coppess says.

Webinars are being held to explain the tool. The next one is this Friday, October 3rd.
