Markets rank at the top farmer’s concerns

Weather and markets are two of the biggest concerns for farmers and they are the two things over which they have the least control.  Ashville, Ohio farmer Allen Ett says heading into this year’s harvest this year – those concerns are heightened.  “Myself, I think right now, we might be at the low on corn,” he says.  “We might get down a little bit more.  But, I don’t really think we’ll see too much more pressure.  I don’t really think we’re going to rally a lot after harvest – because of the huge crop.”

Ett tells Brownfield they’re already starting to think about the marketing for 2015.  “Although I’m not really happy where the levels are,” he says.  “We put a little protection on for soybeans for next fall with the futures.  But that’s all we’ve done so far.”
