Missouri corn 20 percent harvested, but behind normal

The Missouri corn harvest is 21 percent done, ahead of last year, but 15 percentage points behind the five year average.  About three-quarters of the corn crop has reached maturity and is rated 85 percent good to excellent. Missouri got seven-tenths of an inch of rain statewide last week. Topsoil moisture is 82 percent adequate to surplus. Sixty-two percent of the state’s soybeans are turning color, which is 30 percentage points more than last week. Twenty-seven percent of the soybeans are dropping leaves and the crop is 71 percent good to excellent. Cotton bolls are 45 percent open. Rice harvest is 26 percent complete. Pastures are 46 percent good to excellent.
