Fertilizer certification courses scheduled

The first training courses for the state’s new Agricultural Fertilizer Applicator Certification Program have been announced by the Ohio Department of Agriculture (ODA) and Ohio State University.

“These will be the first three training sessions we will roll out as a result of Senate Bill 150 that deals with nutrient management issues across the state,” Director Daniels said. “

Daniels says farmers with 50 or more acres will need to be certified under Senate Bill 150.

“Probably most of the folks in Ohio that are applying nutrients on their production land.”

Training courses will be held September 12 in Fulton County, September 25 in Hancock County and September 26 in Paulding County.

Farmers intending to apply fertilizer on 50 or more acres must be certified no later than September 30th, 2017.
