Bayer Crop Science investing in agriculture

Investment and commitment was the theme for a media event hosted by Bayer Crop Science during the first day of the Farm Progress Show.  Jim Blome, President and CEO of Bayer Crop Science North America told Brownfield that in the crop protection business, you have to invest and be committed, as it takes about ten years to get a new product on the marketplace.

When others were investing only in seed and trait research, Bayer Crop Science was focusing on chemical and small molecule research.  Because of this, farmers are benefiting from the resistance management tools like Liberty Link for soybeans and Corvus and Capreno for corn.

Bayer Crop Science new global biologics research and development facility’s grand opening will be held next week, proving the company’s investment and commitment in this area.  Blome tells Brownfield biologics is part of the key to having the right integrated solution to do what is best for the grower.

Blome is optimistic about agriculture Increase production 60% to read the world’s population.
