Ohio crop conditions hold steady

Compared to a week ago, the condition of the Ohio corn and soybean crop is little changed.

As of Sunday, August 3, the corn crop was rated 73 percent fair-to-good, down one point from last week. 83 percent of the crop is silking and 29 percent is in the dough stage.

81 percent of the Ohio soybean crop is in fair-to-good condition, the same as a week ago. 82 percent of the soybeans are blooming, 48 percent are setting pods, four points ahead of the 5-year average.

2nd cutting alfalfa is 86 percent complete.

81 percent of the state’s pastures are in fair-to-good condition.

Topsoil moisture in the state is 89 percent adequate to surplus.
