IN crops advancing

Dry conditions combined with cooler temperatures last week created an environment where crops did not experience a significant loss of moisture or degradation of condition.

Seventy-five percent of the corn crop is in good to excellent condition with 96 percent silked, 35 percent doughing, and 1 percent in the dent stage.

Seventy-one percent of soybeans are in good to excellent condition with 92 percent blooming and 68 percent setting pods.

In other crops around the state, 6 percent of the third cutting of alfalfa hay and 93 percent of the second cutting are complete.

Topsoil moisture is 72 percent adequate to surplus and subsoil moisture is 81 percent adequate to surplus.
