The game was developed by Dr. Paul Kuber, State 4-H Livestock Specialist at Ohio State University.

”What we are trying to do is we’re taking youth, or consumer’s when they are young and if we have that opportunity to educate them at that age, by the time they become purchasing adults, hopefully they’ll be smart consumers about their food choices and understand that farmers do go through a lot to be able to put food on their table,” Kuber said.

Tim Andriesen, Managing Director of Agricultural Products for the CME Group says the Commodity Carnival, which began last year is a great educational tool.

“It is part of a much broader educational effort that we have,” Andriesen said. “Last year was really our first shot at starting to help spread that message of markets and of risk and the role of the farmer to this audience and it’s something we were very happy about last year and excited to get it going again this year.”
